Based in Preston, Lancashire, I am an editor with 30 years of experience in the biomedical/healthcare, business-to-business and academic sectors. I’m an Advanced Professional member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (formerly the SfEP).
As an employee, I edited and wrote in-depth profiles of pharmaceutical companies (covering finances, strategy, product development, marketing, R&D etc.), articles and newsletters, and was involved in the creation, testing and maintenance of various databases and websites. I have also proofread/copy-edited everything from a conference poster on an inherited genetic disease to an MSc project in computer science, books on philosophy and quantum physics, a bike shop website and charity gala programmes.
One of my strengths is editing prose written by non-English speakers, to make it read as though it was created by a native speaker via the correct use of colloquialisms etc. I’m equally comfortable editing British and American English, following The Chicago Manual of Style for the latter. I’m a high-level user of Word and Acrobat, moderately proficient in Excel, PowerPoint and XMetal, familiar with desktop publishing, competent with WordPress and Blogger and can work on-screen or with hard copy.
Whether you want one page of a website checked, need your annual report to be error-free or would like your first self-published book to have top-notch grammar, get in touch and let’s discuss how I can be of assistance with your professional or personal aims. I charge competitive rates, offer a discount to students, have professional indemnity insurance and am always happy to negotiate a price per project to help with your budgeting.
