Based in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, I am an editor with 25 years of experience in the science, business-to-business and academic sectors. I’m an advanced professional member of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders.
I have edited and written in-depth profiles of companies (covering finances, strategy, product development, marketing, R&D etc.), articles and newsletters, and been involved in the creation, testing and maintenance of various databases and websites. This involved working to tight deadlines, managing multiple projects simultaneously, and working with a variety of teams, including offshore.
In parallel with my standard day-to-day work, I have also proofread and corrected anything from a conference poster on an inherited genetic disease, to an MSc project in computer science, a bike shop website, and some professional blog pieces.
One of my strengths is editing prose written by non-English speakers, to make it read as though it was created by a native speaker via the correct use of colloquialisms etc. I have a zero tolerance policy for bad grammar and punctuation! I’m equally comfortable editing British and American English, following The Chicago Manual of Style for the latter.
Whether you want one page of a website checked, or your PhD thesis converted into a format that an academic book publisher will accept, get in touch and let’s discuss how I can be of assistance with your professional or personal aims.
I’m a high-level user of Word (several iterations) and XMetal, moderately proficient in Excel and PowerPoint, familiar with desktop publishing, competent with WordPress and Blogger and can work on-screen or with hard copy.
